Before attending a live recruiter chat on a company's profile page at the Interactive Job Fair, use this guide to help you connect and learn more about a company.

Don't forget to introduce yourself!
Don't be shy! Introduce yourself so that the company's recruiter knows who asked them such great questions during the chat. When they're reviewing resumes later, your name will pop out among the rest.

Ask about a specific job posting
Companies with open positions will have job listings posted on their profile pages. Learn more about these available positions by asking for more information: pay rate, hours, duties, possibilities for advancement, stress levels, why the position is open, difficulty of getting the position, etc.

Ask what 'personal attributes' they are seeking
An important question to ask is what kind of personal attributes the company is seeking in a potential candidate. It's better to find out now if you and the company aren't a good match based on these attributes.

Ask about the company's recent news
Do some research about the company you are interested in before the chat session. If the company just merged with another company, find out where they are headed in the future. Use the Union-Tribune as a local resource for news.

Ask the recruiter why he/she works there
Most people like to talk about themselves—so provide an opening for the recruiter to reveal personal insights by asking, “How did you start working with this organization? What keeps you here and interested in your job?”
